University of Newcastle (ELC)

The Language Centre is located in a modern new building. It is well equipped with three language labs for learning English, 18 computers, and audio and video facilities. Each classroom is also air-conditioned. There is also a well-equipped student lounge. Students can freely use the two university libraries, where friendly staff help students find the materials they need. The university's computer centre provides free computer lessons to language students. All teachers have years of experience teaching English in Asia and Europe. It is a designated IELTS test centre, so students can take the exam at the school. Students can use the university's squash courts, tennis courts, and cricket, football and baseball fields. General English programmes start every 5 or 10 weeks and are divided into 4 levels. English for university entry and Cambridge exam preparation courses are also offered. Special programmes include EFL for English teachers, Science English, Business English, Agricultural English and internship courses.
