About the School
Redeemer College, founded on Christian principles, has a distinctive religious atmosphere. Most students live together in townhouse-style dormitories, and these dormitories, which house 8 students in a 4-bedroom unit, are a point of pride for the school. Even language students are strongly encouraged to acquire English through dormitory life. Students take food from the food pantry on campus and prepare meals together, and by living with Canadian students enrolled in regular university programs, the school looks after ESL students who want to improve their language skills in a short period of time. Each class is small and selective, with 3-4 students per class, taught in a private-tutoring style between instructor and students. Because it is a Christian school, there are various religious events on campus and in the dormitories, but you only need to take part if you wish. One term is 8 weeks, the program content focuses on preparing for university admission, and your ability is assessed with the TOEFL at the end of every term. To enroll in the English language program, a final academic transcript and a pastor's recommendation letter are required, but students do not have to be Christian as long as they can adapt to that atmosphere. A counseling office for international students is operated, and students can receive benefits such as travel programs, private tutoring, club activities, and medical insurance. An airport pickup service is also provided upon arrival.
