About the School
The English Language Institute (ELI) at UBC, a well-known tourist attraction in Vancouver, lets you enjoy UBC's beautiful campus and a wide range of on-campus facilities while you study English. Since opening in 1969, UBC's English language center has produced many students from around the world every year, and it offers a variety of programs, including short-term intensive programs for working professionals and special programs for teachers and high school students. Classes in the English program average about 17 students, and the course runs 12 weeks across 6 levels from basic to advanced. Successful completion of the final level (level 600) is recognized as equivalent to UBC's English admission requirement for undergraduate programs. In addition to EAP and EBP, there are also travel and cultural programs that help improve English. Only students aged 18 or older with health insurance may apply. Students who want airport pickup can receive the service only within 2 days before the start date; it must be requested in advance and an additional fee applies.
