The ESL General course is organized in weekly and monthly intervals, and students can take finely segmented classes: each of the 7 areas is divided into 8 levels, and students choose the classes that fit their level. The 7-hour course consists of 4 hours of 1-on-1 classes, 2 hours of 1:4 group classes, and 1 hour of lectures. On Saturday mornings there are 2 hours of group classes and 2 hours of special group classes, so that the easily wasted weekend is filled with engaging group classes and gives students more exposure to English. One BUDDY TEACHER is assigned exclusively to each student and acts as an 'English learning helper' in everything from adjusting to classes to evaluation, counseling, exam preparation, and ACTIVITY programs. A test every Friday and a total level test at the end of every month. Levels are not adjusted simply as time passes, without checking what has been studied and without accurate data. Every Friday, students are tested on what they learned that week, and on the last Friday of each month they take a comprehensive speaking, listening, and writing test, after which scholarships are awarded to top performers. Level adjustments are made based on these results, and a barbecue party is held in the afternoon.
