About the School
Hurtwood House is one of the UK's most prestigious co-ed boarding schools, ranked No. 1 among co-ed boarding schools in the UK over the past five years. During the Summer School period, it offers English, Dance and Acting programs. For the English course, a welfare guardian is required for students up to age 11; the course is generally open to students aged 12-17, and dormitory accommodation is provided. The summer program has a maximum of 100 students and a teacher-to-student ratio of 1:5, ensuring high-quality education and student safety.
School Features
- [From Mr. Richard Jackson, Headmaster] Hurtwood House is the only independent school specialising exclusively in the 16-18 age range. We combine the best of public school with the best of sixth form college. We believe that students need the care and attention that can be provided in a well-structured, closely-knit boarding community, that can respond fully to the needs of each individual. Hurtwood House is a small school, but a large and powerful sixth-form, with 290 boys and girls preparing for University entrance. We benefit from having specialist A-Level teachers and a very broad range of subjects to choose from. There is also an exceptionally thorough system of weekly monitoring, which gives students the support and help that is essential for their academic success. Classes are small, and exam results are outstanding, and when you come here what will strike you most is the energy and motivation of our students. Hurtwood House is one of England's most exciting and successful schools. We have retained traditional values, broken new ground educationally, and we have filled a need by creating a steppingstone between school and university. I look forward to meeting you and to introducing you personally to our school.
