Intensive English Program: An intensive on-campus English program is offered for students who have not achieved a TOEFL score of 473 (PBT) / 153 (CBT) / 52 (iBT). Students seeking a language and cultural experience are also welcome at any time. A semester lasts 17-1/2 weeks or 9 weeks, and the summer program consists of 4 or 8 weeks. College programs: City College of San Francisco awards Associate of Arts and Associate of Science degrees, and students who meet the transfer requirements can continue their studies at four-year colleges and universities throughout the United States. In addition, the associate-professional programs provide college-level vocational training in degree and certificate curricula. The programs are designed to qualify students for employment in fields such as culinary arts and hospitality studies, ornamental horticulture, graphic communications, film production, broadcasting and child development. College counseling is also available to help students with student welfare, career planning and course selection. International student counselors provide personalized services to international students. The Transfer Center and the Career Development and Placement Center provide students with career information and help them with educational choices. The Library/Learning Center offers up-to-date services. The Study Center provides one-on-one help in mathematics, English, ESL, chemistry, physics, accounting, economics, psychology and foreign languages. Students who need accommodation stay with carefully selected host families that provide two meals a day and a furnished single room. In San Francisco there are also residence clubs offering private or shared rooms and two meals a day. The on-campus cafeteria offers convenient and easy meals during the semester. Public transportation is easily accessible from anywhere in the city, and many students can find apartments or rooms to live in alone or to share. Sports and social activities: City College of San Francisco offers a variety of recreational and competitive sports such as baseball, basketball, soccer, swimming and tennis. The college also sponsors numerous clubs and organizations, such as the International Student Club and the Computer Club. It also supports art film series, speeches and concerts, music, dance and theater performances, and a college newspaper.
