GEM-College of the Canyons (Managed Regular Program)

The College of the Canyons International Program is the only comprehensive community college program of its kind offered in the country. The COC-GEM education program for international students goes beyond what other California community colleges have offered to date. College of the Canyons has a Transfer Admission Guarantee (TAG) agreement with UCLA, and Transfer Alignment Program (TAP) agreements with UC San Diego, UC Davis, UC Irvine, UC Santa Barbara, UC Santa Cruz and other universities. Through the 'UCLA & 7UC 100% Admission Guarantee Program,' jointly run by College of the Canyons and GEM (Global Educational Management), students take ESL courses and college classes for 2.5 to 3 years and can then transfer with 100% certainty into the third year at UCLA or one of 7 California state universities. In the first semester, students will focus intensively on ESL classes. In addition, while taking math and level-based ESL classes, students can choose elective courses through counseling. All international students will take classes while earning credits to prepare for transfer to a four-year university as juniors. All students will receive lectures from professors invited from leading universities across the country, special mentoring programs, internship opportunities, and weekend seminars and individual tutoring. Seminar topics will range from adapting to American culture to preparing for life in the U.S. In addition to these services, students will work with their own international program advisor to ensure the transfer goes smoothly without any problems.

COC international students will stay at a hotel 2 miles from the main campus, across the street from the GEM headquarters. Students can get help from a resident advisor who is always nearby, and bilingual international students will support their personal needs and requirements. Breakfast is provided at the hotel, and meals are also available at restaurants around the Santa Clarita Valley. In addition, nearby facilities include reserved study rooms and seminar rooms for international students.
