Activities
Cultural experience student activities: learning beyond the classroom. The goal of Rennert Bilingual's student activities program is to make all of New York City your classroom. "Language is learned in context, and the classroom is a limited context." These are the words of Brad Nield, a Rennert teacher who brings many groups of international students on field trips around New York. "When you leave the classroom, you learn language in a broader context." The Museum of Modern Art, Central Park, New York's ethnic neighborhoods and food. Yankee Stadium. Music clubs and international restaurants. Kayaking trips. With knowledgeable teachers, and by sharing your experiences in English, all of these can become both effective and fun places for language learning. Student activities are planned according to students' diverse interests in art, music, sports, design, food, architecture, and American culture, as well as students' budgets. All activities are reasonably priced. Some of them are free, and all Rennert students are eligible to participate.
