About the School
The intensive English program offered by Santa Monica College provides 20 hours of classes per week. It consists of 3 levels from beginner to advanced and helps students improve their English. Students applying to the language program must submit all documents required for admission to a regular degree program (excluding English test scores). Students who successfully complete the IEP (1-3 semesters/sessions) are exempt from TOEFL/IELTS or other English tests when entering SMC's degree programs.

Facilities
Santa Monica College has a modern library and a learning resource center equipped with various computer facilities and learning materials. Students can use sports facilities including a swimming pool, an Olympic track, a gymnasium and a fitness club, along with a student lounge, cafeteria and bookstore. In addition, the campus offers a variety of newly built facilities for the Humanities and Social Sciences, Life and Physical Sciences, and music and nursing programs, enriching students' education. The new performing arts center, music building and photography gallery give students a place to actively stage plays and performances and hold photography exhibitions.
Activities
International students can meet new local American friends as well as friends from all over the world in more than 50 clubs. Every fall and spring semester, the college hosts a recruitment fair and invites representatives from UCLA, USC, Brown, Columbia and Cornell Universities.
