About the School
After completing 1 or 2 years of UCLA Extension courses, transfer to a top-20 university (for UC campuses, transfer after completing the 2-year program). Location: Westwood Village (a very safe area), a 10-minute walk from the main UCLA campus. Classes: held at Extension and On-Campus. Class hours: between 1 PM and 10 PM (many students combine study with work). Take UCLA Extension General Education courses - earn up to 60 credits - participate in various activities offered within and outside UCLA and UCLA Extension - Academic support: course tutoring, writing tutoring. Start dates: January, April, June, September - Since UC transfers are possible only for the fall semester, Winter (January) admission is recommended. Guaranteed Transfer Agreement - Transfer guaranteed to the Cal State universities San Francisco State Univ and Sacramento State Univ, and to all Shorelight Signature universities - Conditions: Min 2.5+ GPA and successful completion of our program. Transfer support - Select 5-10 desired transfer universities with an advisor - Activities on and off campus - Essay writing support and feedback, Resume/CV feedback - Major information, communication with applicant universities - Help with completing applications and other documents, advice on deciding which universities to apply to/attend, etc. Admission requirements - English: TOEFL 80 (lowered from the previous 83 to 80 after a seminar) - Grades: GPA 2.5+ (grade 5.9) - For GPA 2.0-2.49, a second review of the documents submitted with the application can be requested; if the CSAT (Suneung) score is better than school grades, it can be submitted additionally ** Even students who completed 1 year of university with 30 credits or fewer and had poor college grades or failed another pathway can be admitted, because only high school grades are reviewed. Required documents - High school transcript from grade 9 to grade 12 - Interview - Personal Statement - Letters of recommendation. Progression requirements - Maintain 2.0 or higher each term, C or higher in all required courses. Features - Take classes with the same or similar curriculum as UCLA taught by UCLA professors/instructors, moving between the UCLA campus and Extension - At ACLA, classes have about 15-30 students, allowing focused individual support - Receive the same student card (Bruin card) as UCLA students and use campus facilities - Completing just the 1-year ACLA program grants UCLA Alumni status and membership in the alumni association - Students who do not want to earn U.S. university credits for a year or simply study language abroad can study for just 1 year
