Facilities
MEI students may use the UM libraries, the Campus Recreation Services (swimming pools, tracks, weight rooms, basketball courts, etc.) Dining services are available across the campus, including the Stamp Student Union and the UM Health Center.
Activities
Each semester, one all-program field trip and one class field trip are offered to sites of interest in the Washington, D.C. area.

The University of Maryland is located in the suburb of College Park, close to Washington, D.C., the capital of the United States. College Park has more than 24,500 residents, and it also has numerous restaurants, nightclubs, and unique shops. During the college baseball season, all of College Park comes alive as students and residents alike cheer on the University of Maryland's NCAA baseball team, the Terrapins. When students travel outside College Park, the Metrorail station and MARC train station on campus make it easy to visit places such as Baltimore. From the on-campus train station you can reach Washington, D.C. in 20 minutes by train, and about 40 minutes by car takes you into Baltimore's harbor, famous for delicious meals, crab dishes, and nightlife. You can also visit the not-too-distant Allegheny Mountains, swim in the Atlantic Ocean, explore art galleries and museums, and enjoy beautiful hiking trails and campsites.
