Since its founding in 1973, students from about 95 countries have continued to enroll to experience English and American culture. You can enjoy language study and university life on the campus of Western Illinois University, located in suburban Illinois. The program is divided into 3 levels, with a maximum class size of 14 students. Classes run 20-23 hours per week. University dormitories are also available.

The WESL Institute is located on the beautiful residential campus of Western Illinois University in Macomb, a small town about 75 kilometers east of the Mississippi River and about 3 hours from Chicago (train available). Western's campus is warm and friendly. Students have many activities to take part in, including more than 250 student organizations and activities, concerts, plays, movies, intramural sports, and exercise. WIU also has a new International House where American and international students live together. The Quad Cities, 112 kilometers north of Macomb, is home to the WIU-Quad Cities campus, located on a 10-acre wooded site at John Deere Road and 60th Street in Moline. Located in the thriving urban area of the Quad Cities, Western is perfectly positioned to meet the educational needs of the surrounding community.
