About the School

[Updated 2021.12.23: Campus relocation] New Address: 535 8th Ave, New York, NY 10018 Zoni Language Center was founded in 1991 by Mr. Zoilo C. Nieto. Zoni operates a variety of campuses offering the Intensive English Program (IEP) and other English-related courses in Manhattan, Queens, New Jersey, Miami, Vancouver and Toronto in Canada, and London in the UK. Zoni is licensed by the New York State Education Department, approved by ACCET (Accrediting Council for Continuing Education & Training) in Miami, and approved by Languages Canada in Vancouver, Canada. Zoni in the US is also a school certified by SEVIS. Our Manhattan and Miami campuses are official test centers for the TOEFL iBT and Cambridge ESOL exams. Teachers instruct students based on a teaching method built on the Zoni English System textbook series, which they developed in-house. This diverse, student-centered method combines Direct Method, Total Physical Response, Communicative Approach and Cooperative Learning. Through these methods, students quickly and naturally learn and use the structure and conversation of the language. Zoni takes great pride in its successful English education over the past 20 years. More than 100,000 students have studied at our school and gone on to higher education or career opportunities. More than 2,500 students from over 100 countries around the world come and study at Zoni campuses. Zoni is a melting pot where people of diverse countries, cultures and ethnic backgrounds coexist. Our students and staff from all over the world enrich Zoni with their cultural diversity and personal experiences.

School Features

  • F-1 students can only apply for classes at the Manhattan and Miami campuses. The Queens and New Jersey campuses are not available. F-1 students must enroll for a minimum of 12 weeks to receive an I-20. Classes are divided into morning (8:30am to 12:30pm) and afternoon (1pm to 5pm) sessions. After taking a placement test, students are assigned to a morning or afternoon class based on the results. Because students take morning or afternoon classes according to their level, even if a student wants a morning class, they will be placed in an afternoon class if there is no suitable class for them or if the morning classes are full. Recently, morning classes (especially at lower levels) have been full. Higher-level students can take morning classes.
