Federation Technology Institute Pty Ltd trading as Federation Technology Institute (formerly known as Lyceum) is both a CRICOS registered provider (02919C) and a Registered Training Organisation (RTO 5493). At our Melbourne language school, we offer English courses for international students as well as foreign language courses for local Melbourne students. We organise lots of opportunities for both groups to socialise and practise English and the different foreign languages with each other. General English
General English Lyceum is a great place to study English in Australia. We have English courses for students of every level. Students learn to speak with fluency and accuracy developing the four skills of reading, writing, listening and speaking. The General English courses at our Melbourne school focus on communication activities in functional and situational contexts. The classes are theme-based providing relevant practice which can be applied outside the classroom. Small class sizes ensure that our friendly and professional teachers (all of whom have native speaking proficiency in English) are able to attend to the needs of each individual student. Lyceum's objective in our English language courses is to provide students with the opportunity to master the language skills necessary for working, travelling and living in Australia and all other countries where English is a widely spoken language. Study Period: 2 - 67 weeks. It usually takes 10 weeks to cover one level of English. Hours and Timetable: 20 hours in small class groups running from 8.45am to 1.00pm or 1.30pm to 5.45pm (depending on level), Monday to Friday. In addition, we run free activities and outings most days after class in the afternoon and/or evenings. Placement Test: Students will be given a comprehensive written and oral placement test on their first day to find the most suitable class for them. Objectives: This course provides students with the opportunity to master the language skills for working and living in Australia. Students get the opportunity to learn English in Melbourne at an English language school with a reputation for practical activities, applied learning and outstanding results. Materials: Materials include text books, audio-visual materials, and authentic texts such as newspapers. The appropriate text will be advised and distributed at the commencement of study depending on placement test results.

Our boutique, architect-designed learning centre is well equipped and includes 10 spacious and comfortably furnished classrooms, a large common room with kitchen, two computer areas as well as a learning resource centre. Our administration offices are situated on the same floor making it easy for you to talk with us. The centre is airconditioned throughout and we have free Wi-fi available for students, so that you can progress with your learning of English, plan for activities in Australia and stay in touch with your family and friends. Directly above our floor, you will find our very unique and beautiful roof top garden that offers a great environment for our school parties, for conversation activities and just for you to relax and enjoy during break time or after class. Our school offers a small and friendly environment in which you will quickly feel at home in Australia.

Lyceum English Language Australia is ideally located on Queen Street, a charming tree lined avenue in the heart of Melbourne’s city centre. We are right in the middle of the education precinct with RMIT, Deakin and Victoria Universities all very close by. We are also very close to Federation Square and Melbourne’s main railway station, surrounded by delightful cafes, restaurants, shops and all the necessary services.
