GENERAL ENGLISH The General English Course at Murdoch Language Institute is a high-quality course specifically designed to prepare international students for further education in Australia and welcomes students who want to improve their English for business, professional, or personal reasons. Our dedicated and experienced instructors use a range of teaching approaches and a variety of up-to-date learning materials in their teaching of grammar, vocabulary, speaking, listening, reading, writing and pronunciation. Successful completion of Intermediate level General English leads into the English for Academic Purposes (EAP) course, which provides entry into foundation, diploma, undergraduate or postgraduate courses without taking the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) test. ENGLISH FOR ACADEMIC PURPOSES English for Academic Purposes is an intensive English course that provides students with the necessary skills required for success in Foundation, Diploma or Degree courses. In recognition of the high academic quality of this course, Murdoch Institute of Technology and Murdoch University accept graduates into their courses without requiring an IELTS test. The English for Academic Purposes program is comprehensive and includes: Writing research reports and critical reviews Active listening and note-taking Oral presentation and discussion skills Library and Internet research techniques Academic writing IELTS & TOEFL exam practice Assignment writing techniques (including bibliography) Course Information Average Class Size: 15 Sessions per Week: 23hr (10 Week) Minimum Age: 16 years Entry Level: Intermediate

MUPC Foundation Course Build the foundation for your academic success in tertiary study with the Murdoch University Preparation Course (MUPC). This foundation course prepares students for entry into all 105 undergraduate degree courses at Murdoch University by combining learning from Australian Years 11 and 12. The MUPC is fully recognised by Murdoch University for tertiary entrance purposes. The MUPC is offered in the following four streams: Commerce Science Information Technology Communication and Media This programme comprises six units, which can be completed over two or three trimesters (a total of eight or twelve months). These six units consist of three core units and three electives. Depending on a student’s degree preference, a specialist study stream can be selected, and certain electives are recommended for each stream.
