Core classes concentrate on developing grammar, vocabulary, speaking, listening, reading, writing and pronunciation skills in real-life situations. IELTS Preparation Course The SACE IELTS Preparation programme is an intensive 12 to 24 week course designed to prepare students for the 4 main areas of the IELTS exam.

Barrier Reef Institute of TAFE The International English Testing System, (IELTS) assesses the level of English of non-native English speakers who require English for Academic, Professional purposes or for visa application for Australian Immigration.

Cambridge Examinations Choose to study Cambridge at SACE in Adelaide, Hobart or the Whitsundays Campus.

SACE is an experienced Cambridge Preparation Centre . SACE Students have achieved good results in these examinations since 1987. SACE is the preferred choice for many students planning to sit a Cambridge Examination. SACE Adelaide is the authorised Cambridge ESOL Centre for Adelaide. Students interested in registering for Cambridge English.

English for Tertiary Studies This program is for students planning to study a University / VET course at an Australian Tertiary Institution or for students interested in an academic focussed course. SACE works closely with our DIRECT ENTRY Partner Institutions below. Students enrolled in ETS Courses become familiar with the academic English required for Tertiary Study and have practiced their English skills in their course. Course Duration 12 weeks - 24 weeks Course Aims The course aims to expand and develop students existing English skills to enable them to achieve success in academic study. The course also develops and expands students study skills and assists students to develop and practice independent learning strategies important for tertiary study. Students who successfully complete the SACE Direct Entry Programme (English for Tertiary Studies I / II / III) at the appropriate level and meet the academic entry requirements for University / TAFE are able to gain direct entry to courses offered by the educational institute listed below. International Secondary School Bridging Programme Academic Bridging Programmes for students preparing for entry into Australian high schools in Adelaide, Hobart and the Whitsundays. Course Organisation Students are tested and assessed on arrival and placed in a class of an appropriate level. General English The General English Language programme focuses on developing the students' English skills in the four macro skill areas of: speaking, listening, reading, writing. These classes are highly interactive, encouraging students to communciate in real-life situations. English for Academic Purposes Independent learning habits and good study skills are essential skills for secondary school students in Australia. Skills covered in this component include:

ㆍcultural and academic orientation;

ㆍskimming and scanning techniques; note-taking;

ㆍessay writing; research skills; oral presentation skills;

ㆍresearch skills; independent learning techniques. Secondary School orientation Secondary School orientation and organised school visits are arranged to familiarise students with South Australia, Tasmanian or Whitsunday secondary schools. SACE provides an educational placement and advice service to assist parents to organise High School placements. SACE maintains close contact with the students' chosen school, regular progress reports are forwarded to the school, parents and student at the end of each Term. Accommodation SACE also provides guardianship and special homestay placement for all high school students without adult family supervision in the city of their choice.

English and Work Experience Programme The South Australian College of English, an Australian leader in this area, has successfully conducted English and Work Experience Programmes since 1990. Our English and Work Experience Programme gives students the opportunity of developing professional work skills whilst practising English in the workplace. Work placements are unpaid. English and Volunteering Programme Another course pioneered by SACE, our English and Volunteering Programme offers students the opportunity to learn more about the Australian environment by participating in volunteer placements in national parks or conversation areas. Minimum full-time course length is 4 weeks.

Teacher Training The SACE Teacher Training Center was established in Adelaide in 1992 to train English langauge teachers. All SACE colleges are approved Teacher Training Centes. The centre now offers teacher training courses to native and non-native speakers of English. SACE is an approved University of Cambridge Teacher Training Centre offering teacher training programmes leading to the University of Cambridge qualification in teaching English. SACE graduates have found teaching employment in Asia, Europe and South America.
