General English Why study GE at CET? • GE focuses on developing communication skills to live and work in Australia and abroad. • GE is mapped to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). • GE is offered at all levels - A1 to C2. • GE is recommended to be taken in 11 week blocks. • GE classes are 20 hours per week. • GE classes can be morning classes from 8.30am to 12.55pm or afternoon classes from 1.05pm to 5.30pm. What will I learn? • You will learn the language skills necessary to function in any English-speaking country and specifically Australia. • You will acquire the skills and confidence to get the job you want, travel around Australia or prepare for life after university. • You will learn the language needed to prepare for permanent residence or enter the workforce in Australia. What do I need to enter? • There are no set entry requirements for GE. • Initial placement in a class is by CET placement test, IELTS or equivalent. • There is a minimum two weeks enrolment. Which GE course is best for me? • You may join an ongoing course on any Monday. • GE can be taken in combination with Professional Development Programs (PDP) and English for Specific Purposes (ESP)

Intensive Test Preparation What is Intensive Test Preparation (ITP)? • ITP is for students wishing to take an IELTS, TOEFL, or Pearson Test of English (PTE). • ITP prepares you for admission to the University Pathway Program, Direct Entry Courses (DEC) • ITP is recommended in 11 week blocks. • ITP classes are 20 hours per week. • ITP classes can be morning classes from 8.30am – 12.55pm or afternoon classes from 1.05pm – 5.30pm. What will I learn? • You will become familiar with test content. • You will upgrade your test taking skills. • You will get support in areas of difficulty. • You will get feedback on your listening, speaking, reading and writing. What do I need to enter? • There are no set entry requirements for this course. • Initial placement in a class is by CET placement test, IELTS or equivalent. Which ITP course is best for me? • You can study in ITP for 44, 33, 22 or 11 weeks, depending on your current level equivalent and your target. • You may join an ongoing course on any Monday. • There is a minimum two weeks study. • Intensive Test preparation Programs (ITP) can be taken in combination with evening Test Preparation Classes.

Business English Business English (BE) at the Centre for English Teaching (CET) is an industry-leading program for intermediate to advanced English speakers already experienced in the business world, or aspiring to an international business career. Explore specific English terminology, skills and concepts related to business and participate in industry field trips and projects. In addition, you will do Professional Development modules in Presentations, Meetings, Networking, Problem Solving, Time Management, Project Management, Leadership, Negotiating, Managing Up, Conflict Management and Business Writing. What is BULATS? BULATS is The Business Language Testing Service, it is a multilingual set of language benchmarking and assessment tools for business, industry and commerce. The BE program prepares you for the BULATS exam. CET is an official test centre for the BULATS exam. The BE program is 4 hours per day, 20 hours per week, Monday-Friday. What do I need to enter? You need a minimum level of B1+ (Common European Framework of Reference - CEFR, IELTS 5.0 or equivalent). You will be placed in a class according to your score on the CET placement test or your IELTS score or equivalent. If you are not at this level, you can combine your course and start in General English (GE).
