Our curriculum is custom-designed to enable you to expand your English language skills in a business environment. As a result, you will experience immediate professional benefits which you can take back to your country in order to advance your career prospects. Focus is on real-life communication skills required in business settings: • Listening skills for comprehension • Pronunciation for clear communication • Writing effective business correspondence • Reading business-related articles • Discussions of marketing, finance, the stock market, corporate governance, etc. • Projects and activities include simulated investment portfolios, case studies, internet research assignments, marketing simulations, and business oriented field trips.
Our Business internship program consists of two parts—English or Business studies followed by an unpaid internship. An internship at Canada English Center can offer you the following: • Industry experience in a Canadian working Environment • Be with Canadians all day. Get to really know the culture • A reference from a Canadian company to take back to your country • Improve your English • Improve your business skills Placement Canada English Center works from a data base of over 400 companies in Vancouver and the surrounding areas. During the in-class part of the program, our business co-ordinator will review your application and assist you in the process of applying for an internship position. We will also help you to develop your resume (curriculum vitae) and perfect your interviewing skills. Eligiblity • Students must be 18 years or older. • Upper-intermediate level of English • Must demonstrate professionalism, reliability and English proficiency. Fees For the first half, the in-class English part of the program, regular fees apply. $800 placement fee. Due to Canadian government regulations you must spend an equal amount of time or more in class. Interns cannot receive wages for their work. Minimum length of program is 8 weeks: 4 weeks regular program, 4 weeks internship Once you have successfully completed the program, we will award you a Business English Certificate of Completion.
We have a 4 week TESL Certificate program and a 4 week TEC (Teaching English to Children) Certificate. Our courses are internationally recognized and designed for individuals who have little or no experience teaching English. To register for the program you must have an intermediate level of English with a good understanding of both spoken and written English. A TESL Certificate is the minimum requirement for many jobs, and is recognized throughout the international community. The TESL Certificate course is a short intensive course of 4 weeks duration. The course provides the building blocks you need to begin your new career as an English teacher. We provide both theoretical and practical training in the techniques of teaching English as a second language. As well, we provide a thorough review of English grammar. Our TEC Certificate Program is also 4 weeks and provides the foundation for teaching young learners. This TESL program focuses on teaching children ages 2-12, and the developmental stages children go through. We also focus on a variety of disciplinary methods, and what methods work best in a TESL classroom. Canada English Center is committed to providing our students with the best TESL Certificate program and to prepare them for a successful career in this field. The excellent training provided by our highly qualified instructors gives our students the knowledge and confidence they need to face and meet the challenges of being an English teacher.
