Academic Preparation Program The Academic Preparation program offers international students a program of study which will provide them with the skills necessary for success in an English-language university or work environment. The Academic Preparation program consists of three different levels of English language instruction. The levels are:

ㆍBeginner

ㆍIntermediate

ㆍAdvanced Students attend classes full-time, Monday to Friday. The program can be completed in one calendar year (three semesters). The courses focus on all skills: Speaking and Listening, Reading and Vocabulary, Grammar and Writing. Upon arrival in Canada, prospective students are given an English Placement Test and are placed at the appropriate Academic Preparation level based on their English skills. Upon completion of this Program, students will be eligible for the following two options: 1) Dorset College offers students the unique opportunity to complete a range of courses that are in most cases transferable towards a Bachelor's Degree at a public Canadian university, including University of British Columbia Okanagan, Acadia University, Dalhousie University, Cape Breton University (CBU) and other leading universities. 2) Students can apply for undergraduate admission to other North American universities, provided that they meet all individual university entrance requirements.

BCIT School of Transportation Programs Certificate in Aircraft Maintenance Studies (Partnership with BCIT) The Certificate in Aircraft Maintenance Studies at Dorset College is a 26-week long program that consists of specially designed courses in aviation science, technical communications, English interactions, and oral English. ㆍstrengthen their written and oral English skills

ㆍlearn basic applied aviation technical skills as well as theory gain preparation before transferring to the AME-M diploma program at the BCIT School of Transportation

ㆍUpon successful completion of the Certificate in Aircraft Maintenance Studies at Dorset College, students are guaranteed transfer to the BCIT Aircraft Maintenance Engineer Category M (AME Cat. M) Diploma program. Term 1 (13 weeks)/ Term 2 (13 weeks) Aviation Science I/ Aviation Science II Technical Communications I/ Technical Communications II Oral Fluency I/ Oral Fluency II * Note: Students must complete each of the required courses at Dorset College with a minimum grade of 70% Certificate in Automotive Service Technician Studies (Partnership with BCIT) The Certificate in Automotive Service Technician Studies at Dorset College is a 26-week long program that consists of specially designed courses in aviation science, technical communications, English interactions, and oral English. Preparation for Graduate School Applicants (PGSA) Diploma This Program is intended for international students who have already completed an undergraduate degree in their home country and are now planning to do a Master’s degree in Canada or the United States. This program provides students with an opportunity to improve their English skills while preparing students for entrance into a graduate program at a North American university.
