ESL Program The English as a Second Language program focuses on familiar ESL components of listening, speaking, pronunciation, reading, grammar, and writing skills. The ESL program includes three foundational levels which act as preparatory levels for the English for Academic Purposes (EAP) program. Each term is 14 weeks long, and classes run from Monday to Friday. Continuous intakes occur every seven weeks within each term. *Course Description Students will improve their English communication and academic study skills while taking this intensive 30-hour a week program. Emphasis is placed on building a strong vocabulary base through content vocabulary and the Academic Word List (AWL), learning reading techniques, solidifying foundational grammar structures and increasing overall fluency and self-confidence. The Surviving Numbers 123 class teaches students how to use numbers, interpret statistics and make calculations, which are important skills for post-secondary education.
