리자이나 대학은 어학연수생에게 이 대학의 학생으로서, 최대한의 배려를 아끼지 않는다는 취지아래 어학 및 컴퓨터 실습실을 개방하여 학습효과를 높이도록 하고, 체육관이나 도서관 등 다양한 부대시설을 이용할 수 있도록 하고 있습니다. 영어연수 프로그램은 EAP, EBP, ECP와 특정 단체를 위한 특별 프로그램을 개설하고 있습니다. EAP코스는 대학 수업시 필요한 작문, 청취능력과 특별히 말하기 능력을 향상시키는데 초점이 맞추어지며 EBP코스는 이미 직업인으로서 전문적인 비지니스 영어를 배우고자 하는 이들을 그 대상으로 하는 까닭에 중급 이상의 영어 실력을 갖추어야 강의를 들을 수 있습니다. 영어연수를 마지막 단계까지 마치고 테스트를 거쳐 수료한 학생이 리자이나 대학에 입학을 원할 경우 토플시험없이 입학 할 수 있으며 각 단계는 토플 테스트를 통해 향상된 정도를 측정하게 됩니다.

Regular ESL Program The University of Regina ESL program offers a 13-week regular program, 3 semesters per year. Students receive 252 hours per semester consisting of core curriculum (15 hours/week) and skills courses (6 hours/week) of instruction from university trained ESL instructors. Classes are held on campus with an average class size of 16 students. ESL students have their own computer lab with scheduled class time. Scholarships and bursaries are awarded to students during a formal Closing Ceremony and 50 students receive a certification of completion. Each regular program consists of a core curriculum and skills courses. Core courses are 15 hours/week with an additional 6 hours a week of skills courses. Core courses are organized according to skill level. Students study listening, speaking, reading, and writing through a theme-based integrated curriculum. Students can tailor the program, to a certain extent, to suit their individual language needs. While the core courses are highly academic, the skills courses offer both academic and cultural content. Skills courses are divided into sections and require a specific level of language proficiency. Each course focuses on specific language skills offered through classroom instruction, workshops, seminars and socio-cultural activities. Evaluation is based on graded assignments, tests, mid-term and final examinations.
ESL Plus One Program This program bridges the English as a Second Language Program with the University of Regina undergraduate programs. Take One Undergraduate Course and ESL 050 in the Same Semester ESL + 1 gives ESL students the opportunity to begin their university credit studies before finishing their ESL program. In the ESL + 1 program, qualifying students enrolled in 050 may take one undergraduate course during their 050 course. Eligibility 1) Must be enrolled in ESL 050 2) Must be conditionally accepted into one of the following Faculties: • Arts (Economics) • Business Administration • Engineering and Applied Sciences • Science • Centre for Continuing Education Courses Available These are the university-level courses that are eligible for the ESL + 1 Program. • Academic Discourse- ACAD 100 • Adult Mathematics- AMTH 001, AMTH 002, AMTH 003 • Mathematics- MATH 103, MATH 110 • Statistics- STAT 100, STAT 160 • Economics- ECON 100, ECON 201 • Computer Science- CS 100, CS 110, CS 115 Applying Applications to this program will be accepted when students apply to the ESL Program, or any time before they are in ESL 050. UR International and ESL will hold application workshops for all 040 students wanting to apply. 1) Contact Peco Nagai, Student Advisor 2) Contact the appropriate Faculty Advisor ESL + 1 Policies • Students who pass both ESL 050 and the credit course can start their U of R studies full time and receive credit for their university credit class. • Students who fail ESL 050 but pass the university credit course will only receive transfer credit for the University course after passing ESL 050. • Students who drop or are discontinued from ESL 050 will automatically be discontinued from the U of R course.
