1. English for speakers of other languages We offer five English languages programmes for students who seek to improve their English language proficiency. These include the following 16 week full-time certificates: •Certificate in Introductory English for Speakers of Other Languages •Certificate in Lower Intermediate English for Speakers of Other Languages •Certificate in Upper Intermediate English for Speakers of Other Languages •Certificate in Advanced English for Speakers of Other Languages Students are tested on arrival at Massey and are placed in the appropriate certificate based on their English ability. Our certificates cater for students who are above the beginner level. Students below this level will be referred to other providers. The Certificate of Attendance in General English is a flexible enrolment option for students wanting to study the English language programme for 4-12 weeks. 2. Direct Entry English Pathway There are also two 16 week Direct Entry English Pathway (DEEP) programmes designed to enable you to meet the English language and literacy requirements for admission to programmes. •Foundation Certificate in Academic English (for entry to pre-degree, foundation or undergraduate programmes) •Foundation Certificate in Advanced Academic English (for entry to postgraduate and selected entry undergraduate programmes) You can also view the DEEP information in other languages including Arabic, Chinese, Vietnamese, Thai and Indonesian. 3. IELTS Practice and Strategy Course Courses are available to give students practice with and strategies for the listening, reading, writing and speaking components of IELTS before they sit the examination. These courses are often taken in addition to the ESOL or Foundation programmes.
