he Western Institute of Technology at Taranaki (WITT) is a quality Government-owned tertiary education institution based in New Zealand's cultural and surfing hub. Taranaki is a beautiful region defined by its wonderful snow-capped mountain, extensive coastline, great surfing and many opportunities for outdoor activities. WITT is the only state tertiary institution in Taranaki and offers courses from certificate to degree level across a wide range of areas, including Business, Nursing, Hospitality, Maori, Humanities, Media, Art, Electrical, Engineering, Automotive, Welding, Carpentry, Architecture, Computing, Hairdressing, Fashion, Beauty Therapy, Early Childhood Education, Social Sciences and Agriculture. WITT also specialises in English language tuition and foundation programmes for overseas students. WITT's main campus is in New Plymouth, on the west coast of New Zealand's North Island. The campus contains a cafeteria, art blocks, computer labs, engineering workshops, hospitality facilities (including a training restaurant and cafe) and most recently, two student accommodation blocks offering modern and affordable living. WITT focuses its courses particularly on vocational outcomes, and seeks to ensure that graduates are able to enter the workforce successfully or to advance their careers through further education or training. Our small size means that we are able to focus on the needs of our students and provide high-quality tuition in a small class environment. We also work very closely with industry to ensure that our students get real industry experiences and are able to learn from this on–job training. Our well-qualified staff are dedicated to helping our students to achieve positive learning outcomes. Our qualifications are well-regarded both regionally and nationally. * PROGRAM OVERVIEW The programme offers full-time intensive study in English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) at four progressive levels (Elementary, Pre-Intermediate, Intermediate and Upper Intermediate). The English Language course include learning about life in New Zealand and preparing for study at higher levels in New Zealand. Students have the opportunity to participate in activities focused on New Zealand culture and recreation. A valid student visa or Resident Permit (if foreign-born), is to be sighted before enrolment by the International Students' Office. > Certificate in General English (ESOL) Flexible - Sart anytime Level 3 17 weeks full-time or part-time as required 2011 Fees: $528 - Domestic, $5,950 - International * FURTHER STUDY OPTIONS Completion of this course will assist students to meet the English language entry requirements for WITT's certificates, diplomas and degrees.
