Basil Paterson College

If you are looking for an intensive English course and need to improve your level of English for a range of different situations, this is the course for you. Classes start every Monday of the year, and because you can choose anything from 1 to 52 weeks of study per year, our Group Study full-time course offers a great deal of flexibility. The day is separated into specific areas of language development, covering Grammar & Vocabulary in the Language Focus class, while in the Skills Focus classes you will focus on Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing. In addition, full-time students benefit from our unique Performace Masterclass, which has been designed to build confidence and improve spoken English.

If you would like to work or study in the UK and English is not your first language, you may need to take an IELTS examination. IELTS is the most widely recognised test of communicative English language ability, and Basil Paterson is the largest centre for this examination in Scotland. Our intensive full-time IELTS course combines language development lessons with practice of all the examination skills and techniques you will need to excel in an IELTS exam. In addition, because Basil Paterson runs the examination centre, we are able to reserve a place for all students that choose to take an examination course with us.

If you want to improve the overall standard of your English and gain an internationally recognised language qualification for life, this is the course for you. Basil Paterson offers FCE, CAE, and CPE courses at various times during the year, and our experienced teaching staff can help advise you on the correct examination for your level of English. With start dates in January, April, and October 2011, this intensive 8 week programme offers rigorous practice of examination skills and technique. Furthermore, because Basil Paterson is also the largest examination centre in Scotland, all students that take a Cambridge Preparation course are guaranteed a place on the exam.
