General English What is General English? Our General English course will help you improve your general English skills, including pronunciation, vocabulary, grammar, speaking, listening, reading, writing and fluency. You can decide the length of your course and how many hours a week you wish to study. Who is it for? This course is ideal for anyone who wants to improve their general English skills, including pronunciation, vocabulary, grammar, speaking, listening, reading, writing and fluency. Our courses are available at all levels, from beginners (A1) to advanced (C1). We will help you to: ? work on all aspects of your pronunciation skills ? study real-life natural language you can use in everyday situations ? improve your ability to communicate in English through speaking and listening, reading and writing ? increase your range of grammar and vocabulary in a wide variety of subjects Course structure: You can study General English at Hampstead School of English, Manchester Academy of English, English Language Centre York or Hampstead School of English. Choose your course depending on the number of hours you wish to study each week: General English 15: 15 hours of classes General English 20: 20 hours of classes General English 25: 25 hours of classes What will I learn? Our General English course will help you to: ? improve all your communication skills including speaking, listening, reading, and writing ? focus on pronunciation, vocabulary and grammar to ensure you improve your accuracy as well as your fluency ? develop speaking skills for real-life situations and put these into practice using natural expressions and functional language to: talk about yourself, hold effective discussions, make requests, exchange information, and express your opinions ? learn to read and listen for detail and general understanding from many types of text including books, the internet, magazines and newspapers ? learn how to study effectively and discover ways to record and remember vocabulary ? learn new sounds and words on your own as well as learn how to deal with unknown language

IELTS Preparation What is IELTS? IELTS is the International English Exam Testing System. Our IELTS exam course covers all four exam areas with complete and official exercises and materials. In your IELTS lessons you will develop in-depth knowledge of the format of the IELTS test, of the IELTS test content and develop effective strategies to approach all types of exam tasks. Who is it for? IELTS is for anyone who wishes to apply to an English-speaking university and/or would like to achieve a qualification that educational institutions, employers, and government immigration agencies recognise as a part of their recruitment or admission procedures. We will help you to:

ㆍgain skills that you will be able to use at an English speaking university Course structure: You can study IELTS as part of a Combination Course at all four of our schools, including Hampstead School of English, Manchester Academy of English, English Language Centre York, and Edinburgh Language Centre. Combination IELTS 20: 5 hours of IELTS English classes + 15 hours of General English classes Combination IELTS 25: 10 hours of IELTS English classes + 15 hours of General English classes What will I learn in IELTS?
