The Department of English and Language Studies has an English Language Teaching Centre which runs a variety of English Language courses taught by a team of highly qualified and experienced English language teachers. Most of these classes are held at No. 1, Lady Wootton's Green, an historic building just outside the main campus. This building has a student common room, a computer laboratory and well-equipped classrooms. Lady Wootton's Green is only five minutes from other campus classrooms used for English classes and from the modern Student Building where there is an internet café, a bar and coffee shop. This is an ideal place for students to meet after classes. The following English Language Programmes are offered:

켄터베리 대학교 부설은 학생 개인에게 세심한 관심보다는 학교 일정에 맞추어서 학생이 공부를 해야 한다. 학교의 다양한 행사와 시설을 이용할 수 있는 것은 장점이다. 연중 한인 비율은 5% 내외로 매우 적은 편이며, 영어가 중급이상인 사람에게 추천한다. 왜냐면 학교에서 진행되는 다양한 교양 수업을 청강 할 수 있으며 약간의 수업료가 추가될 수 있다.

This course is for students who wish to make progress in their use of English for general purposes. The course combines developing accuracy with fluency and focuses on the structures of English as well as the skills of speaking, listening, reading and writing. The course offers a rich choice of options in the afternoons to add variety to your English study. >Levels: Elementary to Advanced >Dates of course: All year (including summer) One month minimum stay during the academic year (terms 1, 2 and 3) , three weeks minimum stay in the summer. >Class size: 15 maximum – Average size 12 >Minimum age: 17 years old Course content: 21 hours of classes per week: English structures focus (grammar and vocabulary), skills development, study options, plus use of computers on University campus. Location: Canterbury Christ Church campus.
General English with IELTS PreparationThe course is for students who wish to make progress in their academic English as well as improve their IELTS band score. It is designed to prepare students for entry onto British university undergraduate and postgraduate courses. Students follow a course combining General English language classes in the mornings 9 – 12.30 with specialised IELTS preparation classes in the afternoons 1.30 – 3.30. Students will need to be at level 4.0 IELTS or equivalent, to enter this course. The course will be taught by experienced teachers, following a well established syllabus and using up-to-date coursebooks and materials. In terms 1 and 2 there will be 4 hours of IELTS preparation a week , increasing to 6 hours per week in Term 3 and the summer.
Study Skills / English for Academic Purposes This course is for students who wish to make rapid progress in preparing their English for academic study in higher (university and college) education. The main focus of the course is on writing skills and presentations skills as well as on the general study management skills such as library work, understanding lectures and study time management. >Levels: Entry requirements: IELTS 5.5 / TOEFL Paper 500 / TOEFL Computer 173, or equivalent. >Dates of course: First two weeks of September for students preparing for undergraduate entry - four weeks in the month of September for students preparing for postgraduate entry. >Class size: To be confirmed >Minimum age: 17 years old >Course content: 21 hours of classes per week plus 3 hours of computer laboratory self-study >Location of courses: Canterbury Christ Church campus
