| Exam Preparation Courses |
GENERAL English courses run all year. These classes follow a course book and build essential vocabulary and grammar. They also provide practice in the four skills of reading, writing, listening and speaking English. - The maximum class size is 12 students, occasionally 13-14. - Regular evaluations: tutorials, progress tests, progress reports. - Students are given an end of course evaluation, report and certificate. There are two full-time General English courses, 15 hours STANDARD and 21 hours INTENSIVE. Afternoon classes provide further practice of language skills. 1:1 tuition for special purposes can also be arranged. On the first morning students have an induction to the school including a placement test and a short interview with the Director of Studies to assess their current level of English and see where they need to improve. General English courses are designed to give students a good foundation for whatever the long term learning aims may be.
Cambridge Exam Preparation Courses This course will help to improve your language skills and prepare for Cambridge exams. The Cambridge Exams are widely recognised by employers, colleges and universities as evidence of ability in English. PET - Preliminary English Test (Intermediate Level) FCE - First Certificate in English (Upper Intermediate Level) CAE - Certificate of Advanced English (Advanced Level) The courses are: - Designed to improve language skills and help students pass the chosen exam - Taught by qualified, experienced and dedicated teachers In the courses you will: - Improve the ability to use English effectively and with confidence - Develop the language skills needed to pass the chosen Cambridge exam - Prepare and practise for the chosen exam - Receive constant support through tutorials and feedback on your progress - Identify strengths in English and areas where study and practice are needed - Get advice on exam techniques * IELTS Preparation Course This course will help improve your language skills and prepare for the IELTS exam. IELTS (International English Language Testing System) is recognised world-wide as the main English language test for those students wishing to study at university level in Britain and in other English-speaking countries such as Australia, New Zealand and Canada. The course is: - Taught by qualified, dedicated and IELTS-experienced teachers - Designed to meet specific student needs In the course you will: - Improve English skills in the four areas of reading, listening, speaking and writing - Do regular practice tests to establish an IELTS score - Receive constant support through tutorials and feedback on your progress - Identify strengths in English and areas where study and practice are still needed - Receive advice on exam techniques - Be offered help when applying to your chosen university This course helps you by: - Improving the ability to use English effectively - Providing clear targets to aim for - Preparing students to successfully achieve the desired score
