General English, Intensive English Courses Our General English courses focus on communication. Every day, you will have classes which focus on the language itself: grammar and vocabulary, alongside skills classes speaking, reading, writing and listening, where you get to put the language into practice. We allow you to use the language in a real context and encourage your use of English inside and outside the classroom. You will be amazed at how quickly your confidence grows and your progress will be measured at every step.

General English + Cambridge Preparation Thousands of educational organisations, government agencies and immigration authorities throughout the world recognise Cambridge / ESOL Exam Courses as a proof of language ability. Depending on student numbers we can offer courses for Cambridge PET, FCE, CAE, CPE and BULATS.

General English + IELTS The IELTS exam has become one of the most popular public examinations worldwide for students wishing to gain entrance to an English-language academic institution. Rather than getting a pass or fail the candidates receive a score from one to nine with most UK universities typically requiring a score of 6 or 6.5. At International House Bristol almost 100 percent of recent students have achieved the score they needed.

ㆍOur IELTS course aims to give you the language and skills to help you get the score you need in Academic or General IELTS.

Special Courses These courses are aimed at closed groups who seek a specialist element to their studies, combined with English tuition. Somes courses may be available on a one to one basis. Please enquire. International House Bristol offers specialist English courses, including photography, film making, drama and journalism, among other possibilities. These courses offer you the chance to practise your English while learning other skills and collaborating with your fellow students. The courses are fun, practical and ensure maximum exposure to the kind of English you need for both work and leisure.

ㆍPhotography: this combines classroom-based, photography-related lessons alongside lots of photography field work and editing skills

ㆍFilm Making: this course provides you with extensive English language practice by engaging you in the enjoyable and creative process of producing short video clips

ㆍDrama: on our Drama Course, you work on pronunciation, stress and intonation, plus the necessary dramatic skills to put on a performance of a musical drama

One-to-one One-to-one English classes can be a whole course with students having lessons up to six hours a day. Or you can have a package of ten 45-minute one-to-one English lessons as a supplement to a General English course.
