The Intensive School of English & Business Communication (ISE) is one of the most popular English language schools in Brighton & Hove. For over 10 years ISE has grown rapidly, and has attracted students from more than 100 different countries. ISE has a policy of keeping a mix of different nationalities, so that students can learn in a multi-lingual classroom. ISE offers English for Adults, English for Children (Young ISE) and Teacher Training courses. Our flexible and high quality classes are designed for people who wish to learn quickly in a friendly environment. ** ISE Brighton ISE Brighton is located in the centre of Brighton, 1 minute from Churchill Square, the main shopping centre and central bus terminal. The building has a large reception and cafe, with classrooms, a computer room with WIFI and a self-access materials room. ** ISE Hove ISE Hove is located on a busy corner in the centre of Hove, next to Hove Town Hall. The building has large classrooms with high ceilings and windows. All classes have desks, dictionaries and chairs. The space allows standing and speaking activities, as well as traditional classroom work. There is a cafe on the middle floor and a large computer room on the top floor with free Internet access and a WIFI zone.

General English General English classes are designed for students of all levels who wish to study English intensively and make recognised progress in speaking, reading, writing, listening and grammar. We test all students on arrival to find the appropriate level, using qualified teachers. ISE operates classes all year at seven different levels: 1. Beginners 2. Elementary 3. Pre-Intermediate 4. Intermediate 5. Upper Intermediate 6. Advanced 7. Proficiency / Upper Advanced For all classes at ISE there is a maximum class size of up to 20 students.

If this describes your skills now, or describes the level of skills you are working towards, then the Cambridge CAE is the right exam for you. > What does CAE involve? CAE has five papers: Reading: 1 hour 15 minutes You will need to understand texts from publications such as fiction and non-fiction books, journals, newspapers and magazines. Writing 2 hours You will have to show you can process information from different types of input to produce a number of different types of writing such as letters, articles, reports and reviews. The pieces of writing will be aimed at specific types of readers, each of about 250 words. Use of English Paper 1 hour 30 minutes Your use of English will be tested by tasks which show how well you can control your grammar and vocabulary. Listening: 45 minutes You need to show you can understand the meaning of a range of spoken material, including lectures, news programmes and public announcements. Speaking: 15 minutes You will take the Speaking test with another candidate or in groups of three, and you will be tested on your ability to take part in different types of interaction: with the examiner, with the other candidates and by yourself.
IELTS University Preparation IELTS is the International English Language Testing System. It measures ability to communicate in English across all four language skills (listening, reading, writing and speaking) for people who intend to study or work where English is the language of communication. The IELTS exam is needed for non-native English speakers to enter a British University. Exams are held in locally 2 to 3 times every month in the summer and once a month all other times. Most University courses require an IELTS score of 6.5 or above. Please contact your prospective university to check on the IELTS level needed. The examination fee from 2008 is £100 per candidate. IELTS classes at ISE will be delivered to learn specific exam techniques and can be integrated into your existing study timetable. This way, you'll be able to improve your level of English whilst preparing for the IELTS exam at the same time. We have an excellent record of success for our students in the IELTS exam. IELTS has now been granted approval for use in the UK's new points-based immigration system.
English for Business ISE offer Business English classes, leading to LCCI (London Chamber of Commerce & Industry) exams. LCCI English for Business is an internationally recognized qualification and useful for anyone wanting to work in business or commerce e.g. as a manager, executive, administrator, secretary, receptionist or public relations officer. Business English teaches both written and spoken Business skills. It includes a comprehensive range of business documentation and situational language. Students practice and develop interview and telephone skills, taking examples from real life business scenarios together with useful business language for meetings, sales, presentations, negotiations and deals. Students cover topics including; Travel & Tourism, Marketing, Operations, Finance, Human Resources, Hotel & Catering, Corporate Strategy and Innovation. Students should have an existing English level of IELTS 4.0 before joining the Business English course. ISE offer a Diploma in Business English for students of at least IELTS 5.0, wishing to study for up to 48 weeks.
Young ISE "Let's Speak English" Young ISE offers a complete package of study, accommodation, activities, visits and sports. Courses run for up to 8 weeks, allowing youngsters the chance to make friends from all over the world. What is different about learning English at Young ISE? We know that you learn best by doing, which is why the Young ISE lessons are full of activities where you use and practise English. Our experienced and student-focussed teachers make sure lessons are exciting and fun.
ISE Pre-University Diploma ISE offer a 12 to 48 week Pre-University Diploma designed to give students the skills to survive at University at Undergraduate, Masters or Doctoral level. The diploma consists of a mixture of General English, Academic English and IELTS Examination Preparation. With the support of monthly tutorial sessions, all students work towards achieving their desired University place. UCAS application assistance and University selection advice is included as part of the Diploma. The Pre-University Diploma explores the highest levels of language tuition; students concentrate on academic research skills, data collection, advanced summarization and presentation skills. Students are often highly qualified professionals in their own subject area. An IELTS target of 7.0 is the focus of the Diploma. Students also receive monthly progress reports and complete written assignments to ensure they are adequately prepared for University study in the UK.
Teacher Training: CELTA/CELTYL * Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults (CELTA) The CELTA is intended for those without previous teaching experience who wish to enter the profession and for existing teachers with no previous training in EFL. CELTA is highly regarded by employers round the world, as providing sound initial training, and is probably the most internationally recognised teacher-training qualification. * Certificate in English Language Teaching to Young Learners (CELTYL) The University of Cambridge YL Extension is for practising teachers who want to extend their expertise or gain a specific, recognised qualification for young learners. For successful YL Extension candidates, CELTA holders' certificates will be upgraded by UCLES, other teachers will be awarded a certificate of achievement.
One to one Classes Private classes are important for people with specific targets, or who need expert teachers in specialist subject areas. Classes can be arranged at ISE or in the comfort of your office. ISE have access to many specialist tutors and external consultants. ESOL(English for Speakers of Other Languages) for Work ISE offers ESOL for Work as a 9 month Sandwich course comprising of 4 weeks intensive study followed by a 32 week paid work placement. Students then return to the school to complete a further 2 weeks study and sit the examination. Cambridge ESOL's Certificates in ESOL for Work are relevant and reliable, because they are based on a well-established, work-related ESOL assessment. ESOL for Work measures candidates’ language proficiency in terms of the English they need to use and understand in the workplace. Topics and tasks are work-focussed and are relevant and recognisable to candidates. They relate to the ways in which they need to use or respond to English language in their working lives here in the UK.
