The London International Study Centre (LISC) originated in 2003 in response to the need for students to be in a caring environment prior to entering a mainstream school, so that every day life English language skills could be improved first. We aim to bridge the gap between leaving a family home and moving into 'the deep waters' of boarding. Too often students whom we used to collect from the airport demonstrated an inadequate knowledge of English, and so struggled both socially and academically with the challenges faced upon their arrival at a UK school. Our caring team, including the home stay guardians, help students overcome their homesickness and cultural inhibitions which means they are much happier and can achieve better academic results. The London International Study Centre (LISC) is a small study centre with a human touch. We pride ourselves in delivering programmes to suit your exact needs. Our primary aim is to provide quality education in a caring, stimulating and friendly environment. As a multilingual team, we are all university educated, well travelled and passionate about education. We are fully committed to making your stay with us special and memorable. Everyone in our team would like to welcome you to LISC in the near future. It is of great importance for GCSE/A level/IB students to also acquire appropriate study skills and the academic terminology of the subjects they are planning to study so that their coursework can be of a high quality from the start. Over the years we have extended our support to UK students attending local schools who come to after-school tuition and join our revision courses.

Our centre is accredited by the British Council for the teaching of English. We have designed an INTENSIVE ENGLISH COURSE specifically for students who wish to improve their language skills. At LISC we make use of carefully selected and age appropriate teaching resources to ensure that your particular needs are met. This course is for students of all ages and levels who want to improve their speaking, writing, reading and listening skills. INTENSIVE ENGLISH COURSE is also suitable for students wishing to enter the UK education system. Each programme, adapted to the student's age and entry requirements, covers general knowledge, verbal skills and basic terminology of subjects such as maths, science, history, geography and business. Students may prepare for specific English language qualifications, like an IELTS and Cambridge ESOL certificates.
>ONE-YEAR IGCSE OR A LEVEL COURSES These programmes are ideal for students aiming to achieve the best possible results in one year of intensive study instead of the traditional two-year IGCSE or A Level. Students have to be capable of taking these courses and prepared to study hard. Whilst providing the required qualifications and an excellent preparation for their next stage of education, our one-year courses offer a considerable saving in time and money.
>PREPARATORY COURSES Our PREPARATORY COURSES offer a seamless transition to a UK school or college. These pre-sessional programmes are specially designed for students who would like to prepare for the next stage of their education. The courses are adapted to the student's age and academic requirements: from 11+ to GCSE, A Level and IB. Subject tuition is carefully tailored to assist international students who are unfamiliar with the English curriculum. This allows them to acquire fundamental knowledge, subject terminology and study skills in a way that suits each individual's ability and personality.
Intensive REVISION COURSES are held during school holidays, with Easter being the most popular time. These are designed to significantly improve each student's performance in GCSE, AS, A2 and IB exams. They concentrate on major elements of the syllabus common to most examination boards. REVISION COURSES are taught in specific subjects and cover examination techniques and study skills. We have a meticulous approach to exam preparation. Our students receive individual attention to satisfy their specific requirements. Specialist subject teachers offer helpful feedback and plenty of advice. We work on past examination papers and practise sample questions.
