General English These courses focus on developing all 4 core skills of the English language: speaking, listening, reading and writing and provides students with the skills and confidence to use English both in an academic environment and at the workplace. English programmes can be taken with supplementary One-to-One tuition, should students wish to focus on any particular area of interest. Who is this course for? For students who want a combination of general, academic and professional English in a highly communicative environment Entry Criteria There are five levels available: Elementary, Pre-Intermediate, Intermediate, Upper-Intermediate, Advanced. Upon arrival students will meet with a senior member of our staff to ensure that they are being placed in the appropriate level in order for the student to meet their learning objectives. How can I progress after this course? These courses are ideal preparation for students who require a broad training on the English language and who may wish to specialise later in our specifically Academic or Business-focussed classes.
Academic English Experienced lecturers and a professional study environment ensure excellent standards of tuition, invaluable early experience of university life in the UK and a head-start with their degree. The classes focus on writing discursive essays, practising academic listening skills, developing tactics for note-taking and summarising, and broader skills such as study skills, research skills, critical thinking and cultural awareness. Who is this course for? For students who want to focus only on Academic English skills (in particular, writing skills, listening and reading skills). These courses are ideal preparation for Pre-University students who require in-depth training in Academic English beyond the narrow scope of an IELTS preparation course. Entry Criteria There are two levels: Intermediate and Advanced. A student should have the equivalent of IELTS 5.0 to join the Intermediate class and 6.0 to join the Advanced class. Upon arrival students will meet with a senior member of our staff to ensure that they are being placed in the appropriate level in order for the student to meet their learning objectives. How can I progress after this course? The Academic English courses are ideal preparation for students planning to study at Undergraduate or Postgraduate programmes at the London School of Business and Finance or who are continuing their studies with another university in the UK.
Business English The key focus of this course is the study of English for Business purposes and is appropriate for motivated business students who wish to excel in their business language skills. There is also a component of General English, consolidating students' knowledge and practice of grammar, structure and vocabulary at Intermediate, Upper-Intermediate and Advanced levels. This course is also suitable for those students who are considering preparing for the Cambridge Business English Certificate (the "BEC"). The Business English course is ideal preparation for students who are continuing on to the Master's and Certificate programmes at the London School of Business and Finance. Available levels: Intermediate, Upper-Intermediate and Advanced. Students must be a high B1 CEFR intermediate level to join the Business English class. Upon arrival students will meet with a senior member of our staff and will be placed in the appropriate level at that time. Who is this course for? The Business English courses are appropriate for motivated business students who wish to excel in their business langugae skills or to prepare for the Cambridge Business English Certificate (BEC). How can I progress after this course? The Business English courses are ideal preparation for students who are continuing on to the Master’s and Certificate programmes at the London School of Business and Finance or are continuing their studies with another University in the United Kingdom. How many hours per week will I study? This course can be taken alone or in conjunction with other English courses.
English for Specific Purpose These courses are designed as intensive programmes for students interested in the following dynamic industries: . ESP English for Fashion . ESP Resort Management and Tourism . ESP Media and English . ESP Oil and Gas English . ESP Law . ESP Engineering . ESP Human Resources The courses aim to fully support students in their development of writing, listening, speaking and reading skills. The classes are taught in a communicative way and students are expected to participate actively, working in pairs and groups as well as individually. At the end of the course, students will: . Have an overview of the industry and its structure . Have a basic understanding of career opportunities of the industry . Have designed & managed a micro–project individually and in small groups verbally & using visual aids
