Undergraduate Foundation Programme (UFP) This one-year (3 term) programme offers successful students guaranteed progression* to London South Bank University. You will study your Foundation programme at our Centre located at the heart of the London South Bank University campus. The 4-term extended UFP is available to start in June or September. This programme gives guaranteed progression* to Year 1 of a wide range of undergraduate degrees or the International Year One in Business, Management & Accounting. This programme is designed to prepare international students, who have completed senior secondary education, for entry to undergraduate studies at London South Bank University. All students who successfully complete the UFP are guaranteed placement on a suitable programme of undergraduate study at London South Bank University. The UFP is set at level 3, which is equivalent to A-level standard in the UK. This programme lasts one academic year (nine months). The year is divided into three terms of seven to eight teaching weeks and one examination week. On average, you will undertake 21 (and up to 25) hours of classroom-based study per week. English Language forms up to six hours of your timetable, is compulsory for students who are below the required level for progression, and will be integrated into the teaching of academic subjects as well as being taught separately if you need additional support. Students who are at or above the required English level for progression are likely to follow a reduced timetable. Students will be expected to timetable self-study hours in addition to the classroom-based hours. This programme includes English and three academic subject modules. English will be integrated into the teaching of academic subjects, as well as being taught separately if you need additional support to develop your English language. There are four academic pathways to choose from and you will study the pathway most suited to your chosen progression degree. Academic skills relevant to the specific subject area will be taught to fully prepare you for university study. The pathways are: Business, Engineering and Physical Sciences (with option to progress to Life Sciences degrees), Humanities and Social Sciences and Art and Design. This programme is designed for international students who do not quite have the academic grades and/or English level to start the first year of an undergraduate degree at London South Bank University, but have a stronger profile than a UFP student. All students who successfully complete the IY1 are guaranteed progression to Year 2 of a business-related undergraduate degree at London South Bank University. This programme is set at level 4, and is equivalent to the first year of an undergraduate business degree in the UK. How long will I study for? The duration of the programme is one academic year (nine months). The year is divided into three terms of seven to eight teaching weeks, one reading week, and an examination week. On average, you will undertake 23 (and up to 28) hours of classroom-based study per week . English Language forms up to six hours of your timetable, is compulsory for students who are below the required level for progression, and will be integrated into the teaching of academic subjects as well as being taught separately if you need additional support. This programme is designed for international students who do not quite have the academic grades and/or English level to start the first year of an undergraduate degree at the London South Bank University, but have a stronger profile than an UFP student.
