* Pre-sessional English language long route Full-time – typically 10-12 weeks and a maximum 42 weeks. This English language course is for non-native speakers of English who wish to improve their English language skills for general and academic purposes. We provide an enjoyable and stimulating atmosphere to study in with a maximum number of students per class of 15. You are encouraged to take part as much as possible. You are given regular homework and self-study guidance to help practice and revise class work. [Typical timetable] • session one, 9.15-10:45am – presentation and practice of English language structure • session two, 11.15am-12.45pm – general and academic language skills and fluency If you pass your assessment you continue onto the Pre-sessional English language route A. If you still need to improve you continue onto Pre-sessional English language route B. * Pre-sessional English language route A You attend for five or ten weeks depending on your current level of English and your main course requirements. This course enables you to • demonstrate an understanding of spoken and written English in academic settings • use spoken and written English in academic settings • demonstrate the English language study skills needed to successfully complete an academic qualification • communicate comfortably in everyday English, using and recognising a range of language forms • demonstrate an understanding and knowledge of British culture, both academic and social * Pre-sessional English language route B Full-time for a minimum of five weeks and a maximum 10 weeks. You can study during the mornings only or every morning plus three afternoons. You take this route if you need further improvement following the Pre-sessional English language long route. The course aims to improve your communication through English. We emphasise • communication and fluency skills • development and consolidation of language structure • developing reading and written communication skills • pronunciation practice • vocabulary development
