Architecture and Art & Design UFP Architecture and Art & Design UFP The Architecture, Art and Design UFP is a one-year intensive studio-based course, aimed at preparing students for degree level studies in a wide range of subjects. Taught by practising artists and designers, the course provides you with a broad practical and theoretical introduction to Art and Design. Small class sizes ensure that you receive the high level of individual attention necessary to maximize your potential. The course makes full use of both London and Bath’s rich cultural resources, employing study visits to museums, galleries and architectural sites to develop your understanding of the subject. The programme is designed to enable you to produce a strong subject-specific portfolio, which is essential to your successful degree course application. During the year you will regularly be required present and discuss work you have produced. This practice will help you to develop your communication skills, and ensures that you are able to express your ideas with clarity and confidence in degree course interviews. You can start the Architecture and Art & Design UFP in either September or January and choose to study in London or Bath. You will study four broad curriculum areas before specializing in your chosen field. Fine Art Including observational drawing, abstract work, painting, colour theory, sculpture, collaborative work, and installation. Graphic Design Including print-making, typography, packaging, illustration, Adobe design software, stop frame animation, and information graphics. Photography Including camera functions, narrative, still life, landscape, pin-hole photography, studio portraiture, digital editing, and printing. Spatial Design Including perspective drawing, isometric drawing, scale drawing, site analysis, model making, sculpture, and computer-aided design. The course follows three stages Stage 1: Learning Skills and Context Learn to research and develop your ideas relating to specific project briefs. This first stage enables you to discover where your strengths lie, enabling you to continue forward in a positive manner. Stage 2: Development and Progression Decide which module you would like to Major in and choose one supporting minor subject. The projects you completed during this stage will form the center of your portfolio. Stage 3: Project Proposal and Realisation Develop your independence and individuality in preparation to progress to your chosen undergraduate degree. You will complete a self-initiated project to form the basis of your final assessment exhibition.

Business Finance UFP The Business Finance UFP is a widely accepted entry qualification to the best Business and Finance courses at universities in the UK, including King's College London, Nottingham, Manchester, Bristol and City University London (including Cass Business School). The University Foundation Programme (UFP) is a 3-term programme. You can start the Business and Finance UFP in either September or January and choose to study in London or Bath. Term 1 During the 1st term, you will study the Core Minor Modules to provide you with the fundamental skills needed for pursuing your chosen academic programme at university level. Mathematics You will study both Pure Maths and Statistics (If you choose to study the Law, Humanities and Social Science UFP then you will study Intermediate Maths). Information Technology You will learn how to produce spreadsheets and work with database programmes and Microsoft Word. Communication Skills / IELTS preparation You will develop your study skills, including effective reading methods and essay-writing techniques. You will also improve your oral communication skills with a focus on presentation, public speaking and group discussion. Term 2 & 3 During the 2nd and 3rd term you will choose 3 Major Modules, which are relevant to your intended degree course. Engineering and Computing UFP The Engineering and Computing UFP is one of our most popular courses and the modules on offer and will equip you with the required skills for top undergraduate degree courses. You will develop advanced mathematical skills, a broad knowledge of advanced physics, as well as practical skills and a diagnostic approach towards problem solving. Since most engineering degree courses now involve a significant amount of computer programming, UFP students have the added benefit of gaining essential IT skills on this course. UFP students have progressed to a wide variety of Engineering and Computing degree courses at many universities, including Southampton, Bath, Queen Mary’s and King’s College London. Pharmacy and Medical Science UFP All areas of Biology, Chemistry and Physics are covered in our fully comprehensive science programme at UFP. You will gain considerable experience of scientific methodology and the opportunity to develop your skills to present logical arguments about the topics covered. Former UFP students have gone on to study degrees in Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Genetics, Biochemical Engineering, Pharmacy and Basic Medical Sciences (which can lead to the study of a degree in Medicine). The London School of Pharmacy is a UFP external examiner and this close relationship has resulted in many UFP students progressing to join their Pharmacy undergraduate programme.
