AF International (AFI) was established in 1995 by Dr. Andrea M. Fuchs. AFI has two campuses, one in Koreatown, downtown Los Angeles, and one in Westlake Village, Thousand Oaks. Both locations have been approved by the INS to issue the SEVIS I-20 form to foreign students who intend to apply for a student visa (F-1). AFI offers ESL, TOEFL and TOEIC preparation classes, and a specialized TEFL program tailored specifically for international students who intend to teach English in their home country. AFI Los Angeles is also an official testing center for the TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language).

The Intensive English Program (IEP) is designed for students, business managers, and other professionals who seek to develop mastery of the English language. The program is a series of four-week courses meeting 24 hours a week in small groups. The series includes 13 levels of instruction. The IEP is offered at all levels meeting from 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Wednesday, and from 9:00 a.m. to 12:40 p.m., Thursday and Friday. Groups consist of from four to twelve students each. Emphasis is placed on speaking and listening comprehension. The additional afternoon sessions provide a platform for vocabulary workshops, conversations, presentations and discussions.
The Semi- Intensive English Program is designed for students, business managers, and other professionals who seek to develop mastery of the English language. The program is a series of four-week courses meeting 18 hours a week in small groups. The series includes 13 levels of instruction. The Semi-Intensive English Program is offered at all levels meeting from 9:00 a.m. to 12:40 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Private tutorial instruction is tailored to meet the language objectives of each student. Students enrolled in private tutorials have the opportunity to focus on discrete skills in preparation for professional goals or university study. Class hours are sixty minutes in length and can be arranged to suit individual schedules. A minimum of two class hours for each session is suggested. All students must take a placement test and have a personal interview before beginning private instruction. Private Instruction can be combined with any regular program and schedule at A F International, or as a separate class.
