Intensive English Program Study English in Boston with us in our full-time ESL courses and you will receive the highest quality English instruction for the best value. If you want to study on a full-time ESL program, you can choose from our two main study options: the Intensive 25, and the Intensive 30. Both of these programs are I-20 eligible* to meet the needs of international students wanting to visit the United States on student visas. Please refer to our immigration page for instructions on how to apply for an I-20. * 4 week minimum enrollment required for I-20. I-20 eligible programs include Intensive 25, Intensive 30, TOEFL, TEFL programs only. Boston Academy of English and the iBT TOEFL Boston Academy of English, offers a two-month TOEFL™ preparation course with a four-week, alternating design. Month A and Month B together cover the whole test in depth, yet each month covers all four sections of the TOEFL™ iBT. Each week, during any given session (Month A or B), we will study each of the four sections of the test. On Fridays we will either be practicing our strategies and skills or we will be taking a practice test. This means that in a four-week session you will receive instruction and practice for each of the four sections of the TOEFL™ iBT as well as two full practice tests and two full days of guided strategy and skills practice. Along with test-specific skills and strategies, you will also learn first-year university vocabulary and study Greek and Latin roots and prefixes to aid you in your pursuit of mastering the English language. Students are able to take our two-month TOEFL™ preparation course in any order they choose, i.e. Month B first and then Month A second. Enrolling for two, four-week sessions is our recommendation but if your time is limited you can still benefit significantly from enrolling in just one four-week session. Our classes meet daily for 4 hours a day of intensive study with the most up-to-date, relevant, effective textbooks and materials available. In our computerized training lab, students have many opportunities in each course to practice taking the TOEFL™ iBT in its computerized format. We also utilize an Internet based classroom interface (iBCI) for students to stay connected to the teacher and their fellow students in and out of the classroom. Our TOEFL iBCI site allows students to access homework, quizzes, practice tests, and review skills and strategies learned in class where ever they have Internet access. Boston Academy of English can provide I-20 forms for full-time students who need them, and we offer a wide variety of other services for international students. All students applying for the TOEFL™ iBT Preparation Class, whether new to BAE or wishing to transfer from the intensive program, must take our TOEFL™ placement exam in order to determine their readiness for our TOEFL™ iBT-level course. This placement exam is administered on orientation day. A minimum score of 21 out of 30 is required to join our class. Students scoring less than a 21 out of 30 may join our intensive ESL classes until they are ready for our TOEFL™ preparation course. BAE TEFL Certificate Program People of all ages and backgrounds have come to the Boston Academy of English to complete their TEFL certificate in our full or part-time programs. Boston Academy of English offers a rigorous training program aimed at providing you with the practical tools you will need to find success in the field of teaching ESL/EFL. Our small class sizes ensure that you receive the personal attention and support needed to meet the challenges of the course. We offer multiple workshops focused specifically on finding and landing a job that fits you. FULL-TIME PROGRAM: Duration: 4 weeks (a total of 120 hours) Classes: Monday-Friday 10 am - 5 pm (one hour lunch break) PART-TIME PROGRAM: Duration: 9 weeks (a total of 96 hours) Classes: Tuesdays from 6 - 9 pm and Saturdays 9 am - 6 pm (one hour lunch break)
Private Instruction The Boston Academy of English can provide you with private English instruction. Private classes are ideal if you have very specific English skills that you want to develop and/or specific time constraints under which you need to complete your English instruction. You can begin your private English classes at any time, and schedule them during hours that are convenient for you. Your private classes can be held at our convenient Downtown Crossing, Boston location, or we may be able to arrange sessions at your office. The Boston Academy of English can also offer private classes as part of an English Corporate Training Program, or as an option in our English for Professionals program.

Social activities Weekly group social activities give students a chance to get to know each other better, and to experience the greatness of Boston. Examples of most popular activities include visiting the Museum of Fine Arts, going to a Boston Red Sox baseball game, taking a cruise in the Boston Harbor, having a picnic on nearby Boston Common, and exploring the shops and cafes of Harvard Square and Newbury Street. In the winter months, we also offer movies, pizza, and game days at the school. Activities are open to all intensive or semi-intensive students. BAE also provides information about many popular weekend trips to regional points of interest. The weekend trips are organized and led by independent tour companies and are paid for by students. These trips include visits to Cape Cod, New York City, Niagara Falls, Montreal, Toronto, Washington D.C., etc.
