Since 1990, California English School (CES) at Palomar College has provided high quality English language instruction to international students from over 40 countries. Each year students from all around the world have come to CES to learn to speak, read and write English fluently. Professional instruction provided by Palomar College faculty has made the learning experience enjoyable. In addition to our excellent language program our students are enriched through field trips, role-playing sessions and by the international contacts and friends they make while attending CES. Our students also enjoy most of the benefits and services that are available to students who are enrolled at Palomar College. CES is located in beautiful north San Diego County on the Palomar Community College campus. It is within driving distance of the San Diego Zoo, Sea World, Safari Park, Legoland, and various other places of interest. We hope to welcome you in the very near future. ESL Program English is not an easy language to learn, but set in the right atmosphere and with the right educators, the task becomes much easier as well as pleasant. This is why we feel that in our course of study our students will come away with much more than the ability to speak English: they will open the door to a wide world of opportunities and potential success. The principal components of the CES curriculum include conversation, discussion of current events, listening, grammar, reading, vocabulary and writing skills. The standard length of our terms is 15 weeks, with 3 sessions usually beginning in January, the end of April, and the end of August, from Monday through Thursday, 4days a week, 9:00am to 2:20pm. Through individualized testing, placement, advising and challenging instruction, CES staffs work in harmony with students to improve language skills and communication abilities. Classes at CES have been designed to assist students to pass the TOEFL exam and to succeed in the American college and university setting. Instructional materials and methods have been designed to create a smooth transition from the pre college setting of CES into the college classroom.

Located in one of the fastest growing parts of the United States, the California English School at Palomar College provides an intensive program of learning, recreation and cultural activities for students and professionals wanting to improve their English language skills while developing a better understanding of American culture and business practices.
CES is ideally situated in beautiful Southern California, allowing CES students to participate in sports, cultural activities and regional field trips. The San Diego region offers access to major professional and collegiate sports events, movie theaters, plays, concerts, and museums. Additionally, students can visit world famous locations such as the San Diego Zoo and Safari Park, Sea World, Disneyland, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, the Grand Canyon, the Hearst Castle at San Simeon and Mexico.
