ㆍ The College of Eastern Utah’s ESL program offers International students the opportunity to improve their English language skills in order to continue their college education, to work in a bilingual setting, or for their own personal satisfaction.
ㆍ Our program begins at an intermediate level and is designed for students with an intermediate to advanced level of English proficiency, specifically students having a 36-37 IB, 110 CB, or 450 PB TOEFL, or Grade 2A STEP score. Our ESL courses focus on academic preparations.
ㆍ Classes cover six basic skills: Reading, Writing, Vocabulary, Grammar, Listening and Speaking. Other classes taught on an intermittent basis are: study skills, test-taking skills, and pronunciation. ESL students also have access to tutoring and individual help in our Writing Lab.
ㆍ Students can begin the ESL program Fall or Spring Semester.
ㆍ ESL students are allowed to add classes from the traditional curriculum as their abilities increase. This unique feature allows students to complete their graduation requirements faster, saving time and money.
ㆍ Students admitted to our ESL program are automatically admitted to College of Eastern Utah, with all of the rights and privileges provided to traditional students, such as library access, computer services, dormitories, recreation programs and student activities. The Office of International Student Services provides orientation, academic advising, personal advising, conversation partners, tutoring, and a great deal of personal attention.
