Collin College offers English for speakers of other languages to build their confidence and skills in listening/speaking, grammar, reading, writing, and vocabulary development. Classes are designed for various interests, personal needs, academic needs, and skill levels. New students wanting to take ESL classes must complete the ESL New Student Assessment. Information about the Assessment is in the ESL New Student Information packet here and at the Information Centers at the Spring Creek, Preston Ridge and Central Park campuses. New students must also complete the steps for registration. Assessment scores are valid for one year. These scores are used for course placement only and do not affect the admission status of students. Students interested in taking ESL classes through Continuing Education should call 972-985-3750 for assessment instructions. We have a comprehensive, excellent ESL program that will meet your highest expectations. We are glad that you have chosen to join our program. - ESL Seminars The ESL program at the Spring Creek Campus now offers noncredit seminars in partnership with the Developmental Education Division. As part of Developmental Education Resources, the ESL program offers seminars that include a variety of skills and topics to increase language skills. Because the seminars are noncredit, there are no tests or grades. These seminars are not limited to current Collin students; anyone may take them. All Study Skills Seminars are free, and no appointment is necessary. Call 972-881-5720 for more information and/or to secure a copy of the schedule.

ESL Program
The credit ESL program is a structured program with multiple levels in conversation, reading, writing, grammar, pronunciation, cross-cultural communication and academic study skills. Students must take tests, complete lab assignments and pass exit assessments to continue to the next skill level. This program is under the Developmental Education Division. Students may register for these classes as credit students or noncredit students. The noncredit students are concurrent/noncredit students. For tuition purposes, COLLIN offers concurrent enrollment in the ESL credit classes for students who do not qualify as Texas residents. All students wishing to register for a credit ESL class must take the ESL Assessment in the Testing Center at the Spring Creek Campus. Although these courses are credited classes, they do not count towards a degree or certificate and they do not transfer to other schools.
