Each year, the Owens Campus welcomes students from all over the world to our English as a Second Language (ESL) certificate program. Students enroll in our classes to develop English language skills for work, for education, and for interpersonal communication. Our International Club celebrates the diversity of our students and provides opportunities for them to learn about American culture. About Our Program The ESL certificate program offers courses to meet the varied needs of persons for whom English is not a native language. In beginning, intermediate, and advanced level courses, students develop the listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills needed to communicate in everyday life. Students can also prepare themselves to enter the workforce or pursue a degree. An academic certificate is awarded upon completion of the advanced level ESL courses. Careers Students who complete the requirements of the English as a Second Language certificate program and pre-requisite mathematics can be accepted into any open admission degree program offered by Delaware Technical & Community College. Students will enroll in an upper-level English language course, English for Degree Programs, concurrently with other courses.
