TOEFL Preparation Offered year-round to high intermediate and advanced students, TOEFL Preparation is an intensive, 30-lesson per week course. Cambridge Exam Preparation Offered for both 11 weeks and 8 weeks in all locations, as well as 10 weeks, 6 weeks, and 5 weeks in Santa Barbara, these courses prepare students to pass either the Cambridge First Certificate (FCE) or the Certificate of Advanced English (CAE). The FCE is the most widely recognized proof of language ability at the upper intermediate level. The CAE also has tremendous popularity as an assessment of advanced abilities in English. Students in the FCE and CAE Preparation Courses focus on not only passing the final examination, but also on improving their general accuracy and fluency in English. These are dedicated courses, limited to FCE and CAE students who will take the exam at its conclusion. Students in the 8-week course join the 11-week course in progress. All students must successfully pass a pre-test in order to participate in these courses. All three ELC locations are proud to be official University of Cambridge testing centers.
