The Intensive English Program is an academic preparation course designed to help international students make the transition to American academic life in a relatively short time through full-time instruction in English as a second language. The Intensive English Program prepares students for the TOEFL® examination. Students are tested prior to the first day of class. Based on test results, each student is placed in one of six levels of study. In each level, students receive grades for written examinations, oral presentations, class participation, and out-of-class work. The Intensive Conversation Program is a non-academic immersion program in English conversation. During this practical 3-week course, students will talk, talk, and talk in English all day. If you want English conversation only, this is the program for you. Students are tested prior to the first day of class to evaluate speaking and listening skills, and then placed in one of three levels of study: beginning, intermediate, or advanced. The program includes: Extensive conversational practice Small classes of 10 to 15 students to ensure full student participation Language laboratory instruction
The Academic English Program (AEP) offers international students integrated languages classes in grammar/conversation and reading/writing in a more intensive format than our other programs currently offered in the afternoon or evenings. Similar to the Intensive English Program, this program is for serious, university-bound students. The academic focus of the Academic English Program prepares students for the TOEFL® examination. Students are tested prior to the first day of class. Based on test results, each student is placed in one of six levels of study. Students are tested prior to the first day of class in the AEP, and are then placed in one of six (6) levels of study. In each level, students receive grades for written examinations, oral presentations, class participation, and out-of-class work. I-20s WILL BE ISSUED FOR THIS COURSE. Note: Students who wish to take more hours of instruction are encouraged to enroll in our Intensive English Program.
The University Bridge Program is designed to help professionals, business executives, and serious university-bound students who have already studied English and completed advanced levels to obtain the preparation they need to succeed in the professional, business, or academic world. The bridge program offers a number of demanding academic courses that include Reading and Critical Thinking, Academic Presentations/Speaking, and Essay and Research Paper Writing. An advanced Grammar Review can be taken as an elective. In addition to the above-named courses, The Bridge Program offers students assistance with their application process and academic advising. Students also have access to test preparation and tutoring/mentoring. Students interested in this program must pass an entrance examination to be admitted. All ELI students who have finished level 6 in our Academic or Intensive English Program and who are interested in seeking a university degree are encouraged to register for this program. I-20s will be issued for this program.
