Herkimer County Community College(HCCC)의 ESL 과정은 1997년에 설립이 되어 미국에서 대학을 가려는 학생들에게 영어를 가르쳐 왔습니다. 학생들은 동남아시아, 남미, 아프리카, 아시아 등 여러 국가에서 왔으며, 본과 과정을 마친 학생들은 SUNY 계열 뿐만이 아닌 여러 좋은 대학으로 편입합니다. 학생들의 입학서류나 HCCC 시험결과를 보고 ESL 코스 수강 여부가 결정됩니다. ESL 스탭이 어떤 과목을 들으면 좋을지 상담해 줍니다.
ㆍ 학생들은 ESL 풀 코스를 1학기에서 3학기 동안 들을 수 있습니다.
ㆍ 학생들은 ESL 수업을 들으면서 전공 수업을 같이 들을 수 있습니다.
ㆍ 학생들은 학부 수업을 듣는 동안 영어 개인 교습을 받을 수 있습니다. ESL 프로그램은 캠퍼스 중앙, Johnson Hall에 위치합니다. ESL 센터에는 ESL 강사진들의 사무실과 개인교습실, 자습실, 학생 컴퓨터실, 학생 라운지가 있습니다. ESL 센터는 월요일 부터 금요일 낮 동안은 항상 열려 있으며 개인 교습은 사전 예약을 통해 가능합니다. 주중에 하루는 저녁까지 문을 엽니다.

ESL Program The ESL program offers non-credit English language development courses as well as credit bearing courses designed for international students attending Herkimer County Community College. Non-credit courses do not count toward receiving a degree but they may help a student prepare for the credit bearing courses that require facility in American English. The language courses are designed for students who have studied English but need further practice in order to enter degree programs at HCCC. These courses can also help students prepare to transfer to other colleges. The Language courses include the following:

ㆍTo prepare second language students for success in all college majors

ㆍTo support academic excellence for all international students ESL Students at Herkimer On the basis of their admissions documents and Herkimer College-administered placement tests, international students may be advised to take ESL courses. Staff will advise students at the time they enroll for their classes. Students may enroll in ESL courses at the same time they are enrolled in courses in their majors Students may receive tutoring help in English while they are enrolled in non-ESL courses ESL Services
