Here at IIC, we offer ESL classes and Test Preparation courses in beautiful San Francisco. While studying with us, you will learn a new language, make friends and discover various cultures. You will also see why San Francisco is the most exciting and beautiful city in America. Our English language school is an affordable alternative to the more expensive ESL schools. IIC offers the same programs, student services and high-quality instructors that the more expensive ESL schools provide. IIC offers ESL classes for up to 7 levels, test preparation courses for the iBT TOEFL and TOEIC, and Business English.
The Intercultural Institute of California (IIC) is a not-for-profit institute that welcomes students interested in studying ESL and TOEFL. Additionally, IIC offers international and domestic students the opportunity to learn the Korean Language. With English language programs as the foundation, IIC helps international students reach their academic, professional and career goals through its Intensive English language program.

General English Program IIC's intensive General English Program focuses on communication for all levels. Grammar, Listening, Reading, Pronunciation, Writing and Conversation skills are taught with an emphasis on interactive and productive use. Students practice grammar skills and use new vocabulary in authentic, spoken English. Effective speaking and listening skills are reinforced through a combination of group work, projects and discussion. Students are given personal attention and encouraged to organize and express ideas clearly. Students may choose between taking a 4-day mornings-only schedule, or a 2-day full-day schedule.
TOEFL Preparation IIC's intensive iBT TOEFL Preparation Program is designed to help students acquire the skills and confidence necessary to achieve a high iBT TOEFL score. IIC students study all four skill areas of the new iBT TOEFL: Speaking, Reading, Writing, and Listening. These skills are designed and instructed to help students acquire a high score within a short period of time. IIC instructors give special emphasis on iBT TOEFL test-taking strategies for the new iBT TOEFL test.
Business English IIC also offers a Business English class. This class teaches students how to use English in the world of business, while at the same time helping them practice the everyday English they need to survive in the English-speaking workplace.
San Francisco has more restaurants than any other city in the USA and is home to many theaters, music and dance companies, as well as world-famous film festivals. Beyond San Francisco, the Bay Area offers spectacular scenery, as do Napa Valley, Monterey and Carmel, among other places.
Our Director of Student Services devises a monthly program to familiarize you with San Francisco and its many attractions. Typical activities include visits to films, theaters, various districts in SF, Alcatraz, the Golden Gate Bridge, and much more.
