[Intensive English Program Courses] Juniata's Intensive English Program offers a high quality education. The instructors are highly experienced and certified in Teaching English as a Second Language. All of them have lived and worked in other countries and understand the transition process that international students experience when studying in a new country. When you arrive at Juniata you will be tested and placed into courses according to your English proficiency level. The Intensive English Program offers academic English courses at three levels: - Intermediate - High-Intermediate - Advanced The program encourages English fluency, both in class and outside of class, through projects, surveys and interviews with Americans. You must take a minimum of 12 credits per semester. This is a full-time load, as IEP courses give credit which can be used for graduation requirements. You will focus on developing language skills and building self-confidence in using English. The courses emphasize: - Strengthening speaking ability through in-class discussions with international and American students and interviews with local people - Practicing listening to and understanding academic lectures in real university classes - Developing university-level writing and research skills - Expanding vocabulary and increasing reading speed - Developing the self-confidence to use English in a professional or U.S. university setting - Interacting with American culture and the expectations at a U.S. college/university

Juniata에는 학생들에게 미국 문화를 경험하고 교실이 아닌 곳에서도 영어를 사용할 수 있는 기회를 제공해 주는 문화 및 레크레이션 일정이 있습니다. 학생 활동 내용은 다음과 같습니다: ㆍ봄 축제-주말 실외 체육 대회(진흙 배구!), 밴드 및 음식 제공 ㆍ라마단(Ramadan, 단식) 종료를 축하하는 에이드(Eid) 축제-중동 음식 및 학생들의 댄스 공연 ㆍ크리스마스의 마드리갈(Madrigal) 만찬-교수가 학생 접대 ㆍ교내 콘서트, 파티 및 아이스크림 친목회(Ice Cream Socials) ㆍ아미쉬(Amish) 시장 견학 ㆍState College 예술 축제 및 헌팅돈 지역 축제(Huntingdon County Fair) 방문 ㆍ허쉬 공원(Hershey Park) 및 초컬릿 공장 방문 ㆍ피츠버그의 프로 야구 경기 관람 ㆍ워싱턴 디시(Washington, D.C.) 박물관, 백악관 및 국립 동물원 방문

전형적인 미국 소도시인 헌팅돈은 미국 문화를 경험할 수 있는 안전한 환경을 가지고 있습니다. 아름다운 앨리게니 산맥(Allegheny Mountains)과 주변의 외곽 지역에는 수영, 카누, 스키 및 등산을 즐길 수 있는 자연 환경이 펼쳐져 있습니다. Washington, D.C.의 주요 도시와 피츠버그는 헌팅돈에서 차로 두세 시간 이내에 갈 수 있는 거리에 있습니다.
