The University of Evansville Intensive English Center (IEC) provides English as a second language courses for those who need to improve their English skills, whether the goal is academic, professional, or personal. In addition to its regularly scheduled sessions, the IEC designs programs to meet the needs of special groups.

Intensive English Program • Multi-level program • Full-time program of 20 contact hours per week • Daily courses: - Listening & Speaking Development - Grammar Skills - Reading Development - Writing Skills - Language Lab - TOEFL Preparation Note: Students on F-1 visas are required to take the full-time program, which consists of courses 1 - 5.
English Language Courses (EL) • EL credit courses are designed to further enhance proficiency at an advanced level. • Nine hours of English language courses will apply toward graduation requirements at UE if the student's program of study permits free electives. • Courses in: - Pronunciation and Listening Comprehension - Academic Conversation and Discussion - Reading Development - Advanced Reading - Fundamentals of ESL Composition - Advanced ESL Composition
