The ELP staff and teachers offer a compassionate, caring attitude by counseling students as they adjust to a new culture and educational opportunities.The ELP welcomes and invites you to UNF to study English and American culture in sunny, beautiful Florida. The goal of the English Language Program (ELP) is to provide international students and professionals an intensive academic experience to provide awareness of international and intercultural understanding. Our philosophy is to provide each individual with the opportunity to achieve his or her goals. We know that each student brings unique experiences, abilities and objectives to the class. This program is designed to maximize the potential of each individual.

Intensive English Program (IEP) Study where you will be surrounded by English language and American culture. Meet fellow students from around the world and learn from teachers who are dedicated to your success! • Year round schedule • 5 levels of English: Beginning, Intermediate, Advanced, Pre-University, and Bridge to the University • 22 hours of intensive instruction per week • Small personal classes • Students from 35 or more countries Areas of Study • Grammar, Reading, Writing, Listening, Conversation, Idioms, Presentations • Additional classes in Video and Computer Instruction, Accent Reduction, TOEFL Preparation, and Business English Computer Laboratories and Tutoring • Open computer laboratory time • Free tutoring -2 afternoons a week Cultural Activities/Clubs • Language partners, reading club, weekly afterclass activities, and volunteer activities • Class trips to area attractions Features • Knowledgeable, friendly staff • Qualified instructors who are native English speakers • Social activities • Use of campus facilities including swimming pool, fitness center, health clinic, and others English Language Requirements for Admission to UNF • Students completing Level 5 of the English Program may be admitted to the university based on ELP assessment. Bridge to the University Concurrent Enrollment – University Level 5 • Students enroll in one UNF class and 15 hours in the ELP • TOEFL Score 490 required for Level 5 • Students must meet UNF admission criteria Preparation for the University • Institutional TOEFL twice a semester for Levels 3 and 4. • Workshops offered for admission applications to FCCJ and UNF

The Oldest City: St. Augustine is America's oldest city. It is just 45 minutes from the UNF campus. The Spanish colonized St. Augustine in 1574 giving the city the feel of a small South American or European town. Today, small shops and cafes line the cobble stone streets. Over 20 historical sights makes St. Augustine a favorite place to spend a day or afternoon. Sports: Sports lovers will enjoy Jacksonville's offerings of golf, soccer, tennis, fishing, boating, hiking and water sports. If you're more of a fan than an athlete, there are local professional teams for you to cheer for including the Jacksonville Suns baseball team and the NFL's Jacksonville Jaguars. Beaches: Just 10 minutes from campus there are several beaches: Jacksonville Beach, Neptune Beach and Atlantic Beach. The beaches have restaurants, shopping and entertainment. When you come to Jacksonville, don't forget your bathing suit!
