국제학생부처의 일원으로 대학 학위과정 이전에 영어 학습능력을 향상하고자 국제 학생들을 위하여 단계별 학습 프로그램을 제공 하고 있습니다. 4개의 주된 학습 프로그램으로 문법, 말하기와 이해, 읽기와 영작이 있으며, 각 반별로 두개의 레벨을 제공 하고 있습니다. Washburn University's Intensive English Program (IEP) is a section of the Department of International Studies . The program is a series of English classes developed to assist international students in need of improving their English skills before being accepted into a degree program of the University, and area residents, whose native language is not English, to improve their ability to interact in the community and on the job. Four class topics are covered in the program: Grammar & Structure, Speaking & Understanding, Reading Comprehension, and Academic Writing. There are two levels of each class: intermediate and advanced . Classes follow the University semester schedule and meet 4 hours per week, including one hour of lab work, for 15-16 weeks. Students can also utilize the Writing Center and Conversational English Service, which are one-on-one instructions provided by or associated with the University free of charge to the students. A full-time student typically takes 16 hours (four courses) . In addition, students have full access to other University services and facilities, such as computer and language labs, libraries and athletic events and facilities, free of charge.

The tutoring is free of charge to the students. A full-time student typically takes 12 hours (four courses of 3 credit hours each). In addition, students have full access to other University services and facilities, such as computer and language labs, libraries and athletic events and facilities, free of charge.
