• Established in 1991, Maple Leaf Academy (MLA) has become highly recognized for its innovative approaches to language instruction. Our school is unique in the Calgary area, because students receive specialized instruction by a variety of teachers. The staff at Maple Leaf Academy are all experienced teachers and come from a variety of different backgrounds. Some members of our staff include a professional writer, a highly recognized dramatist, a published pronunciation expert, and a former editor of the Calgary Herald. A typical day at our school could see a student instructed by five different professionals. This is of benefit to the student because it allows them to improve their language skills by listening to more than one style of instruction. This guarantees students that they will receive planned, specialized, high-tempo instruction each and every day they attend our school. Maple Leaf Academy's small class sizes (15:1 student to teacher ratio) enable our staff to deal with students in a quick and effective manner. Our small class sizes provide students and staff alike with the ideal atmosphere to create an interactive and cooperative learning environment. The addition of multi-media technology to our school ensures that every student will receive current, cutting edge methods of instruction. This technology allows students to talk into the computer and for the computer to help students analyze where their language problems lie. Multi-media technology will greatly increase the rates at which students improve their listening, sound discrimination, and pronunciation skills used in the English language.
