作为国际学生部门的一员,为希望在进入大学学位课程之前提升英语学习能力的国际学生,提供分阶段的学习课程。主要学习课程有语法、口语与理解、阅读与写作四项,每个班级提供两个级别。Washburn University's Intensive English Program (IEP) is a section of the Department of International Studies . The program is a series of English classes developed to assist international students in need of improving their English skills before being accepted into a degree program of the University, and area residents, whose native language is not English, to improve their ability to interact in the community and on the job. Four class topics are covered in the program: Grammar & Structure, Speaking & Understanding, Reading Comprehension, and Academic Writing. There are two levels of each class: intermediate and advanced . Classes follow the University semester schedule and meet 4 hours per week, including one hour of lab work, for 15-16 weeks. Students can also utilize the Writing Center and Conversational English Service, which are one-on-one instructions provided by or associated with the University free of charge to the students. A full-time student typically takes 16 hours (four courses) . In addition, students have full access to other University services and facilities, such as computer and language labs, libraries and athletic events and facilities, free of charge.
